- Why did you build Small Pics?
- At our day job at Foster Commerce, clients were getting gouged by other image services. We built a focused, affordable alternative with predictable pricing and zero ops overhead.
- What image formats does Small Pics support?
- AVIF (default), WebP, JPEG, Progressive JPEG, PNG, GIF, and JPEG XL. Very few image transform services support JPEG XL output.
- What image origins does Small Pics support?
- Any public HTTP origin, plus S3, Cloudflare R2, DigitalOcean Spaces, and Hetzner Object Storage.
- Do I need an SDK to use Small Pics?
- No. Small Pics is URL-based. Append query parameters to any image URL. No SDK required, though we offer packages for PHP, Craft CMS (Imager X transformer), and more.
- How much does Small Pics cost?
- Plans start at $9/mo (Lite) for 2,500 origin images. Four flat tiers up to $189/mo. If you go over, we email you first and overages are predictable flat packs. See our pricing page for details.
- Does Small Pics charge for bandwidth?
- No. Pricing is based on origin images and transforms only. Four flat tiers with no bandwidth billing, no credits, and no per-request fees. Traffic spikes do not change your bill.
- Is there a free trial?
- Yes. Every plan includes a 14-day free trial with no credit card required.
- Can I migrate from Imgix to Small Pics?
- Yes. Small Pics has built-in Imgix parameter compatibility that translates most Imgix URLs automatically. For Craft CMS, we also have a dedicated Imager X transformer plugin. Most migrations take under an hour.
- Is Small Pics good for agencies managing multiple sites?
- Yes. Every plan includes multiple image sources and custom domains. One Standard plan at $59/mo covers up to 40 sites. No per-site fees like Bunny Optimizer, and no bandwidth surprises like Gumlet or ImageKit.
